Taxved — Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to the most common tax-related queries.

1. What documents are required for filing tax returns?

Generally, you will need your prior-year tax return, government-issued ID, and Social Security/Tax ID numbers for yourself and any dependents. Income documents are also required, such as W-2s, 1099s, or other income statements, along with records of deductible expenses (mortgage interest, medical bills, charitable donations, business expenses, etc.) and details of any investment, rental, or foreign income. Our team will provide a personalized checklist based on your specific situation once we understand your filing status and sources of income.

2. How long does the filing process take?

Most individual tax returns are completed within 3 to 5 business days after we receive all required documents. More complex returns, such as those involving multiple income sources, business filings, or foreign income, may take 1 to 2 weeks. We will give you a clear timeline at the start of your engagement and keep you updated throughout the process.

3. Do you assist with GST/VAT/Sales Tax registration?

Yes. We help businesses register for GST, VAT, or Sales Tax in the relevant jurisdictions, prepare and file periodic returns, and ensure ongoing compliance with local indirect tax requirements. This includes determining your registration thresholds, gathering the required business documentation, and advising on the correct tax treatment for your products or services.

4. Can you help with expat or foreign income taxation?

Yes. We work with expatriates and individuals with foreign income to navigate cross-border tax obligations, including foreign earned income exclusions, foreign tax credits, totalization agreements, and reporting requirements for foreign bank accounts and assets. We help ensure you remain compliant in both your home and host countries while minimizing the risk of double taxation.

5. Do you offer support after filing?

Yes. Our support continues after your return is filed. We help you respond to any notices or inquiries from tax authorities, answer questions about your return, and provide guidance on estimated tax payments, recordkeeping, and planning for the next tax year.

6. Is my financial data secure?

Protecting your financial data is a top priority. We use encrypted file transfer and storage, restrict access to your information to authorized personnel only, and follow industry-standard data protection practices. We never share your financial information with third parties without your consent, except as required by law.

7. What happens if I miss the tax filing deadline?

Missing the filing deadline can result in late-filing penalties and interest on any unpaid tax balance, with the exact amount depending on your jurisdiction and how late the return is filed. If you are unable to file on time, we can help you request a filing extension where available, estimate and submit any payment due to limit interest charges, and prepare your return as quickly as possible to minimize additional penalties.

8. Can you help if I receive a tax notice or audit letter?

Yes. If you receive a notice, audit request, or other correspondence from a tax authority, we review the letter, explain what it means in plain language, and help you prepare an appropriate response. We can communicate with the tax authority on your behalf, gather the supporting documentation needed, and represent you throughout the audit or inquiry process where permitted.

9. Do you provide tax planning services, or just tax filing?

We offer both. Beyond preparing and filing your return, we provide year-round tax planning to help you reduce your tax liability, time income and deductions strategically, plan for major financial events such as a business sale or property purchase, and stay ahead of changing tax laws that could affect you.

10. What are your fees, and how is pricing determined?

Our fees are based on the complexity of your tax situation, such as the number of income sources, whether business or rental income is involved, and the level of planning or representation required. We provide a clear, upfront quote after an initial review of your situation, so there are no surprise charges once work begins.
